Now M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ mom has filed for a permanent residence visa for me which has been approved since january last year but up until now I'm yet to hear anything from them.you can put this on your blog so I can get people's opinion on it. I'm 22 an unmarried

  1. If your permanent reseidence visa was approved since January then you should have heard back from then by now. Send them an email to check the status of your application.

  2. Are you sure it was approved? Please check very well. Because the process involved in approving a permanent immigration for the United States is quite cumbersome. Did you do a DNA? Did you do medicals? Were you investigated? Your home would be visited, your neighbours would be questioned about you etc etc. If all these was done, then you need to send them a mail using your reference number given to you asking about your visa status.

  3. By saying it has been approved, i want to assume you mean you have a priority date assigned to you. which means your priority date is not yet current,

The reason why there is a delay depends on if your mom is a citizen or she is still a legal permanent resident (LPR). if your was a citizen as at when she filed for you, then you need to get in touch with the uscis because you should av gotten a reply by now, but if she was an LPR as at when she filed for you, that means you are in a category that has backlogs and there are people on ground who filed before you and there immigration is still being processed its not yet your turn, if your mum falls under the LPR category just hold on a lil you will soon get a reply. if yow want to know what year and month they are still treating check this sight http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html

Given the information you provided you should fall in the f2a category, in this category people whose petition were approved in june 2011 are the ones being addressed presently, give it 3 to 6months it will be jan 2012's turn,

PS.. it takes another 2-3 month even after your priority date becomes current before you get a mail from uscis requesting for you to fill documents, dont be in a rush you will get a reply before this year runs out
