By Sheriff Salami

THE INTERVIEW WAS SLATED FOR DECEMBER 4TH 2012 AT THE ABUJA CONSULAR OFFICE, I HAD GOTTEN TO ABUJA A DAY EARLIER AND ON THE INTERVIEW DATE I GOT THERE 7AM THOUGH MY APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR 9.30AM AT THE APPOINTED TIME WE WERE SCREENED AND WENT IN THE LADY THAT WAS TO INTERVIEW ME DID NOT CALL FOR THE NEXT PERSON BEFORE I GOT UP TO HER APPARENTLY SHE WAS FREE BECAUSE AN APPLICANT JUST LEFT HER, WHEN I GOT INFRONT OF HER I SAID GOOD MORNING MA\'AM THOUGH SHE DID NOT REPLY I SAID IT A SECOND TIME AND SHE REPLIED WITHOUT LOOKING UP, THEN THE INTERVIEW STARTED AND SHE ASKED WHERE I WAS GOING I TOLD HER SHE ASKED WHAT I DID FOR A LIVING AND I TOLD HER I SOLD CARS AND SPARE PARTS SHE ASKED WHERE I GOT THEM FROM AND I TOLD HER GERMANY THOUGH I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE BUT I HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE THERE, SHE ASKED HOW MUCH I HAD FOR THE TRIP I TOLD HER $10,000 THEN SHE ASKED HOW MUCH I MADE A MONTH AND I TOLD HER APPROXIMATELY 3 MILLION NAIRA THEN SHE ASKED FOR BANK STATEMENT I GAVE HER AND ALSO GAVE HER MY COMPANY CERTIFICATE OF INCORPORATION AND ALSO MY MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE THEN SHE SMILED AND ASKED IF I WAS MARRIED I TOLD HER I WAS AND I ALSO HAD A BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER SHE ASKED WHY I WAS GOING ALONE AND I TOLD HER MY WIFE WAS NOT ON BREAK AT WORK AND MY DAUGHTER IN SCHOOL THOUGH I HAD BEEN FLASHING MY WEDDING BAND TO HER ALL THROUGH THE INTERVIEW SHE SUDDENLY SAID A FEW SECONDS PLEASE THEN SHE WENT INTO A INNER ROOM AND CAME BACK AFTER FEW MINUTES THEN SAID YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED. I THINK BEING MARRIED AND HAVING A TRAVELLING EXPERIENCE GIVES ONE AN EDGE BUT AGAIN IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO LUCK. WISH ALL APPLICANTS SUCCESS IN THEIR INTERVIEWS. CHEERS

  1. I agree with you. being married helps. however when i went for mine, the only reason he gave me a 2 year visa was because i told him i had a 2 year old daughter (am a single mum). So Marriage and Kids helps a lot!

  6. Your experience was really helpful. Had my interview yesterday and the questions asked were similar to yours though went with my entire family (wife and 2kids who practically turned the whole place to a play ground as they were jumping at their Dad, asking me to carry them which I did on both sides). After like 4questions and 1 from my wife, I saw him bring out a white paper and circled where to pick up the visa. God be praised, in ALL....

    2. Dear all, I thank God I found this thread before we went for our interview. We got our visa approved o and the interview did not last for more than 2mins. We were asked few questions to my surprise.(After many days of rehearsal) Not a sheet of our document was checked self.

      It went thus:
      We: Good morning
VO: good morning, you are welcome

Vo: why are you going to the US
Hubby: we are going for vacation

      Vo: what vacation
      Hubby: annual leave

      Vo:are you both married
      We: yes

Vo :asked hubby, what does you company do and he answered

Vo: tell me some of your duties
Hubby also answered this in a rush

Vo: tell me the major activity that happened in the course of your duty last week
Hubby: paused for like 2 seconds then answered him fantastically

      Vo: do you have kids
We: chorused no, we r still trusting God

Vo: faced me then asked why are you travelling. I gave same ans as hubby

Vo: is your work related to your husband?
Me: yes he is in a paid employment but I am self employed

      I
Vo: asked again, do you have kids
      Me: No, still expecting

That was all, he packed our passport to one side and gave us the white paper indicating our approval and where to pick our passport.
